Family Planning
Family Planning is a physics-based block-stacking game used as a metaphor for building a family tree. In this game you will get marry off adults, who will have children so that when they get older, someone will prevent them from dying too early. The children will then get older themselves and perpetuate the cycle. I'm essentially calling families a form of pyramid scheme.
This game was made for the Godot Wild Jam two year anniversary jam. This is my first time participating, as well as my first time doing all of my own art and music for a game. I still had to get the sounds from Freesound.org, but maybe one day I'll become a Foley artist as well.
Theme for the jam was Family, and I also used the Watchmaker wild card.

love the concept, super fun!
Haha I found this hard at first! I kept losing the older people. Really creative concept and its quite addictive. I wonder if there's an alternative to having to click so much, as my finger did get quite tired.
Quite impressive that you did all the art and music as well! I think you can put this on mobile and it would be a nice little time waster. Well done :)
Interesting idea. Got a lot of fun! You managed to make so many portraits of people.
One note: Screen is too big for my monitor. Reasonable to add icon for fullscreen mode then make it so huge.
Great job!
Nice idea ! Some instructions would be nice even though after few games we got the point :P Little bugs sometimes, like pictures getting behind others and blinking.
Very distinct from other games for sure !
Thanks! There is an instructions button in the start menu, but it's down in the corner and probably easy to miss. I guess I could have moved it to be more front and center?
i cant run the html i grt a black screen
:(
Don't think I'll have time to trouble shoot this before the jam deadline.
no all web games dont work for me what gls uses the game?
GLES3.
I'm uploading the Win/Mac/Linux versions now, if you think those might work better for you. My computer's being pretty slow today, so I hope they'll be up within the next half hour.
from what I understand, not all webbrowsers work with GLES3. you can easily set this to GLES2 in Godot (top right corner). it will ask you to save and restart to change your project to GLES2. this way it will work in all browsers, but some things will no longer work. GLI-probe and particle system are not working in GLES2, probably other things also. if you set your project to GLES2 but don't like the outcome you can set it back to GLES3 the same way you changed to GLES2. this is only for HTML5 exports, and Godot 4.0 will probably fix this.
Nice dude, this explains all the aseprite I've seen you in! This was a lot of clicking for a slowpoke like me, but I love the concept.
Took me a few tries to figure out the strategy, but I'm filling up the screen now and doing some swears when one of the fogeys takes an unreasonable bounce.
Fun game dude! And the music is Smooooooth :D
Yeah, that and I always forget to close those apps, so it probably looks like Aseprite is all I do anymore.
Thanks for the compliment about the music! I actually hate it. :D I had serious blank page issues during the jam, so I had to grab a piece I had started before and just played with it a bit to get... something in there.
